Agere Orinoco Silver Wireless Card

This wireless card's driver is include in the linux 2.6 source tree. The driver seems to support a multitude of wireless cards (not just this one) There are three modules to the driver:

  • hermes
  • orinoco
  • orinoco_cs

Proxim Orinoco Silver Wireless Card

Even though it has the same name the Proxim uses a different chipset than the Orinoco driver, and cannot use the same driver. In fact there is no native driver availible for the linux 2.6 kernel (AFAIK). For this wireless card to work in Linux 2.6, it uses and program called NDISwrapper so that it can use the Windows XP driver. NDISwrapper Setup
