Introduction

This is a list of the wireless networking cards we are using for the SBC's in the lab. The Agere Orinico cards have a purple label, they also have a big box shaped end. The HP Orinoco are shaped like the Agere Orinoco cards but have a white label. The HP cards do not seem to support Ad-Hoc networking mode, (lots of kernel errors). The Proxim Orinoco cards using a different chipset than the other Orinoco cards. The HP/Agere Orinoco cards use the Hermes chipset and have driver in the kernel tree. The Proxim cards use the Hermes II chipset. Proxim provided driver for linux 2.4, but there is not port of the driver (that we know of) for linux 2.6. It is unclear whether NDISWrapper can be used on wireless cards that use the 16bit PCMCIA bus (as opposed to the 32bit cardbus).
